When The SLab opened its doors in late 2016, we shared our love of fashion with adults and kids by starting with what we knew best, The SLab’s most popular SEWING 101 class. Since then, we’ve broadened our COURSES to include other artisanal skill sets including PHOTOGRAPHY and METALSMITHING amongst others. Besides in-house WORKSHOPS and SUMMER CAMP programs, we also provide workshops hosted by other businesses enterprises named our ROVER label.
As our events blossomed, so did the collective of budding and seasoned artisans in the diverse community of expats & locals living in Beijing. It is no longer merely a studio, but a community where we come together to enrich our artisanal interests. Come discover our DIRECTORY of artisans living and working in Beijing.
And if you’re wondering where we got our name, The SLab is a combination of two words; S…& Laboratory. Our motto is Learn, Experiment, Discover because we believe the best way to enrich creativity is by feeding our curiosity, and what better place to stimulate our curiosity than experimenting in a lab? As for the ’S’, we will politely decline to reveal what it stands for. We believe in personal interpretation, and we’d much rather you identify it based off your own experience and conjecture.
